E-cigarette Ruling Information

On October 8th, 2019, Governor Bullock announced a rule temporarily prohibiting the sale of flavored e-cigarettes. This includes all flavored e-cigarette products that contain nicotine, THC, and other compounds. Due to a court injunction, the emergency rules have not been taken into effect. Vaping Related Lung Illnesses

As of October 1, 2019, there are over 1,080 confirmed and probable cases of severe pulmonary illnesses possibly linked to e-cigarette use in 48 states and one territory. Under the Emergency Ruling, all cases of unexplained vaping-associated lung injury will be immediately reportable to your local health department in order to conduct necessary surveillance activities. Potential symptoms include:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Chest pain
  • Weight loss
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea

All patients reported vaping in the months prior to illness but a specific cause has not been identified. Patients reported using products containing THC, CBD, Nicotine, and other flavorings. For the most up-to-date information visit the CDC Website.
